Thought & Prayer for Proper 22 & Ordinary 27, 2010 – Psalm 3:24-26

Psalm 3:24-26 “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul that seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

The Encarta Dictionary offers one definition of portion as meaning fate – “an unavoidable event or part of somebody’s life.” I think this opens up the passage for us. God is an unavoidable part of our lives therefore we will wait for God.

Prayer: Ever-present God, grant us patience so that we might always seek your will for our lives. AMEN.
