Maundy Thursday, 2010 – John 13:4-5, 15

John 13:4-5, 15[Jesus] got up from the table, took off his outer robe, and tied a towel around himself. Then he poured water in a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was tied around him…”For I have set you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.”

I think most of us want to do good, and we want to help each other. But as I read these few verses, I hear Jesus asking us to take service to one another to a different level…to that of a servant. To help someone is good, but to truly be a servant to another requires a different attitude.

Prayer: Gracious God, bless our efforts this and every day as we seek to become servants to one another. AMEN.
