Proper 6/Ordinary 11 – 2 Corinthians 5:6-8

From 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 – So we are always confident; even though we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord – for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we do have confidence, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

Usually when we speak of having confidence, we are referring to something that we have seen. “I have performed the experiments, and the data has provided me with confidence in the conclusion.” “I interviewed the job candidate, and I am confident of their qualifications for the job.” This passage reminds us that God asks us to live confidently trusting God and walking by faith, not by sight.

Prayer:

God of mystery, strengthen our faith so that our life-walk can be made with confidence. AMEN.
