Easter – Mark 16:1-4

From Mark 16:1-4 – When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome brought spices, so that they might go and anoint [Jesus]. And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. They had been saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” When they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled back.

I think of us, people of faith, as agents of resurrection. As we serve one another through our various gifts and skills, we help people to find renewal and rebirth in their lives. We help to roll the stones that trap them to one side so that they might step out into new life.

Prayer:

Almighty God, as we approach this Easter Sunday, we thank you for the gift of Jesus, whose life provides guidance in how we should serve and love you and one another. AMEN.
